Atlantis The Palm, Dubai
Atlantis has been the crown jewel of The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai ever since it was opened in 2008. Inevitably, it joins the likes of Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab as Dubai’s landmarks.
Covering 46 hectares including a water park and other marine attractions, there’s no way a day tour could suffice, so we made sure to book a stay even for just a night.
Guests are welcomed by the massive Chihuly Sculpture which contains over 3,000 individual pieces of hand-blown glass.
Atlantis takes the marine theme to heart as no detail was spared in designing the hotel. It really makes its guests experience being in the mythical lost city.
We were hoping to get a room with a view of Palm Jumeirah, but due to the high occupancy, we were given a room facing Crescent Road. The view was actually quite nice.
Our Deluxe Room has all the amenities you would expect of a 5-star hotel.
The queen-sized beds were heavenly! I’ve had a fair amount of experience staying at luxury hotels, and I can say their bed is one of the best.
And the bathroom, ah, definitely a scene-stealer.
From the sink’s marble counter-top to the brass finish bathroom fixtures and premium toiletries, can you blame me if I spent a longer time in the bathroom than usual?
We were getting too comfortable in our room and almost lost track of time, so we had to hurry up and go to Aquaventure Waterpark because it closes at 6:00pm.
Aquaventure has rides and slides for adrenaline junkies and even scaredy-cats (like me).
But if you just want to sit back and relax, you can do so in the private beach or in the Royal Pool.
While the lobby can get crowded with day-trippers, guests enjoy exclusive access to the Royal Pool.
Finally, no trip to Atlantis is complete without a visit to The Lost Chambers.
Would you believe that The Ambassador Lagoon has 65,000 marine animals? Crazy!
They offer complimentary hourly tours so you could learn more about the myth of the lost city of Atlantis.
Be sure to also catch the Interactive Aquatheatre Show every 10:30am and 3:30pm where they share some facts about scuba diving followed by the feeding show.
Surely, a night’s stay at Atlantis is not enough!
And now that I’ve experienced what they had to offer, I look forward to the day when I can experience Atlantis Paradise Island in The Bahamas!
