Bluewater Panglao Beach Resort

For our last two days in Bohol, Bluewater Panglao became our home.

Friendly staff at the front desk

As soon as we arrived, we were immediately welcomed by the staff and the view of one of two free-form lagoon-shaped pools. We were served with cold lemongrass drinks while waiting for our room to be ready since we arrived earlier than the check-in time. We didn't mind waiting, though, because we sat comfortably at the lounge while Bossa Nova music was playing in the background. Ain't that relaxing?

If you get the Deluxe Poolside room, well, the pool is literally just a few steps away. :D

The pool looks more charming at night, but you can only swim at the main pool until 9:00 pm. Due to its proximity to the rooms, it's possible the noise could disturb other guests if you have too much fun. If night swimming is your thing, you can swim at the pool beside Aplaya Restaurant.

We got a Deluxe Poolview room at the second floor.

Room furnishing is the same as our room in Maribago -- albeit smaller and doesn't look as new -- with the signature 'floating beds' and freestanding tub. It was comfortable nonetheless.

There are a total of 54 rooms with 46 Deluxe Rooms (21 Poolside and 21 Poolview), 4 Family Lofts, 3 Honeymoon Villas and 1 Family Villa.

If you want more space and privacy, they have 3 Honeymoon Villas with its own dipping pool and a Family Pool Villa; 2 bedrooms (1 room with 1 king-sized bed and 1 room with 2 queen-sized beds), both with its own freestanding tub with TV, and a dipping pool and sundeck at the middle!

The restaurant is a bit of a walk from the rooms, but the golf cart can always take you there if you're too lazy. It's just a 2-3 minute leisurely walk anyway. A nice way to burn off some calories after every meal. ;)

Lush foliage add to the serenity of the resort

The Aplaya Restaurant is located near the marine sanctuary. It serves international and authentic local fare featuring exotic flavors made with fresh local products. This is where we have our buffet breakfast and a la carte dinners. I will be writing a separate post about Aplaya.

Unlike in Maribago, there's no in-house spa, but you can have a massage at one of two cottages or request for an in-room massage.

While it's true the resort does not have its own beach, they have a marine sanctuary where you can snorkel and/or ride the glass-bottom boat. They also have a free scheduled shuttle service that can bring/fetch you to and from Alona Beach which is just 10-15 minutes away. Additionally, you can sign up for their stand up paddle board lessons. Too bad we were not able to try these activities because of the bad weather brought about by the typhoon.

If you've already seen the countryside, you can also try the variety of free and paid activities the resort offers like exploring Panglao island by bicycle or go on an offroad adventure by ATV/Quad Bikes. Kids will enjoy the Arts & Crafts lessons and moms can learn new dishes through their Cook With the Chef sessions. Surely, there is always something for everyone.

Underneath Aplaya Restaurant is a function room/meeting center

If weather permits, they also hold a bonfire and movie night in this area.

More than the facilities and activities, what we loved most was the excellent service. Everyone was very nice and friendly, and is always genuinely interested if we're having a good time. We really felt at home here.
