Singapore Day 1

It's my mom and I's first out of the country trip and we decided to spend our Christmas in Singapore. :) It's the ideal destination for first timers like us since my uncle lives there and can show us around. Well, even if he didn't, the country's pretty much a safe place for tourists. People are very helpful and honest.

I booked our tickets way back August to make sure we get lower fares since we're flying super peak season. Anyway, we arrived at Changi around 7:00 PM.
The world's best airport!
Their Duty Free alone is like a mall in itself

I called my uncle from one of the payphones in the airport (local calls are free!) as soon as we arrived, and he said he's already waiting for us at the Arrivals.

He booked us at Fragrance Hotel Balestier Road. Most hotels are already fully booked and are very expensive. The Fragrance Hotel is a chain of budget hotels in Singapore.
The room was spacious enough for me and my mom and it's very clean. The bed was comfy as well and it had the basic amenities like cabled TV, water heater, hairdryer, toiletries, grooming kit and everyday supply of purified water and coffee.

My uncle has an office/agency in Lucky Plaza and this is where we often go first thing in the morning.

He was quite busy (yes, he still worked even on Christmas Eve!) so my mom and I decided to mall-hop along Orchard Road to kill time.

As you may already know, Orchard Road's pretty famous for its shopping malls on both sides of the road. You name it, they've got it.
The high end brands of course
We bought some gifts from Takashimaya's toy sale
Later in the evening, we went to Night Safari - the world's first dedicated night zoo.
