Eiffel Tower: 5 Viewing Spots Aside from The Trocadero
We’ve all seen it – that picture by the stairs with the Eiffel Tower in the background in all its glory. I bet you even have one or know someone using it as their profile picture. Can’t blame you as it’s the ultimate proof that you’ve been to Paris. :p
But as with any Instagrammable spot in the world, you have to go there really early to avoid the crowds, touts, and pickpockets. I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the end, but if you want to save yourself from the hassle, I’ll share with you alternative spots to see the Eiffel Tower aside from The Trocadero.
Check out this interactive map:
Parc du Champ de Mars
Champ de Mars is a public park just south of the Eiffel Tower. Its expansive lawns make the perfect venue for a picnic. However, it was fenced when we went. I’m not sure if it was because there was a marathon that time.
How to get here:
It’s actually about a 20-minute walk from Trocadero. On the way, you’ll need to cross the River Seine via Pont d’lena. This is the bridge linking the right bank (Trocadero) to the left bank (Eiffel Tower). It’s also a popular photo spot.
If you want to head to the park directly, the closest stations are Champ de Mars – Tour Eiffel and Ecole Militaire.
Rue de Buenos Aires
We actually found this corner by accident while searching for the nearest open train station. As I mentioned earlier, there was a marathon so they cordoned off some areas and we had to go around the block.
Rue de l’Université
Rue de l’Universite is the above’s more popular counterpart located on the other side of the Eiffel Tower.
Rue Saint-Dominique
Rue Saint-Dominique is one of Paris’ top shopping streets. It’s also filled with flower shops, boulangeries, and specialty shops. On its west end is Champ de Mars.
Just a few meters away is another favorite spot of influencers.
The closest stations are La Tour Maubourg and Invalides.
Galeries Lafayette Haussmann
The terrace at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann has a stunning view of Paris and its most beautiful monuments like The Garnier Opera House, Sacré Cœur, Notre Dame, and of course, the Iron Lady.
How to get here:
The closest Metro stations are Chaussee d’Antin-La Fayette, Trinite, and Opera. RER: Auber & Haussmann-St Lazare
