Somerset Alabang Review

Alabang will always be dear to my heart. It’s where I worked for almost a decade after graduating from college. Back then, there were only humble business parks and a couple of hotels. Today, it is home to some of the top BPOs and multinationals in the country. It’s also just an hour or two away from the airport and industrial parks in Laguna, Cavite, and Batangas, so it’s high time to have an international serviced residence in the form of Somerset Alabang Manila – the first in the southern part of Manila.

Somerset Serviced Residences is part of The Ascott Limited, a Singaporean company, and is one of the leading international serviced residence owner-operators.

We had the pleasure of staying there last weekend, and I’m happy to report that it lived up to our expectations. We’ve already tried most of the hotels and serviced residences in the area, and Somerset Alabang stands out both in terms of aesthetics and service.

Probably the first thing you’ll notice when you arrive is their security. They have a K-9 and each vehicle is inspected thoroughly.

The lobby is not that big, but looks very elegant.

I love that they have a self-service refreshment station that guests can enjoy while waiting to be checked in.  We didn’t have to wait long anyway because check-in was quick and hassle-free.

My niece and nephew enjoying the refreshments. They had strawberry juice, popcorn, Fox’s candies, and lollipops.

As with most hotels nowadays, you are required to tap your room key card before you can press the floor number button.

We were assigned a 1-Bedroom Deluxe on the 18th floor.

We were surprised at how spacious the unit is!

If you’re thinking about getting a property refurbishment service, this unit is a nice design inspiration.

The living and dining areas are perfect for families and for entertaining guests.
The unit is furnished in a neutral color palette and spiced up by colorful artworks and other accent pieces.
We had a sweet surprise! There was ice cream in the fridge and various toppings were provided.

I also love that the unit has 2 TVs. The kids got to hog the TV in the living room to watch cartoons & YouTube videos while we watched movies in the bedroom.

We also got to use the fully equipped kitchen with state of the art appliances.

I love the induction stove because I can’t cook to save my life, and I find it’s very easy to use. 😉

The bathroom is spotless and spacious as well. Speaking of space, I wish they could have used it to put a separate shower stall. But that’s just me. As for the bathtub, my nephews enjoyed it so much they actually spent more time here than in the pool!

Plush towels and premium toiletries from Crabtree & Evelyn were provided.

The bedroom is equally as spacious. Even with 4 people moving in the room, it doesn’t feel crowded.

The best part is obviously the bed with the silkiest sheets ever! I’m not sure about the size of our bed because some units have queen size and others have king size beds. But just in case you need extra bed, you can request it for P1,650.00.

The closet is huge with plenty of hangers and storage space. Bathrobes, slippers, hamper, iron and ironing board, and safety deposit box are also in the closet.

My mom and my pamangkins

The pool on the 4th floor is really nice. It’s bigger than most hotel pools in the area and offers a nice view of Alabang. And even though it’s only 4 feet deep, they still have lifeguards to ensure guests’ safety especially the kids’.

Actually, while we were swimming, we saw a toddler go to the other end of the pool where his mom couldn’t see him. Good thing the lifeguard got to him before he could dip in the pool. He then called the mom who was looking for her son.

Cubbies Kid’s Club, Fitness Center, Cafe Madrigal, Pool Bar, and Pool Locker are also located on the 4th floor.

Somerset Alabang also have business support facilities such as function rooms, a boardroom and serviced offices that are ideal for business travelers.

I wasn’t able to take a picture of the whole fitness center because I didn’t want to disturb the people exercising, but I can say that the gym is fully equipped.

Breakfast is served at Cafe Madrigal which has a casual yet classy vibe. I think it’s also perfect for business meetings.

The buffet breakfast spread has a nice variety of American, Asian and Filipino fare. I wanted to try it all, but had to stop with my second plate because I was already so full.

The cafe staff were also very attentive. They would proactively ask if we want more coffee/hot chocolate. We didn’t even need to ask them to refill our water.

I just also want to share that after check-in, I had to go to BPI Madrigal Business Park to get my EMV card so I called an Uber. When the Uber arrived, security asked for my room number and took down the plate number of the car. When I came back, I was pleasantly surprised when they greeted me “Welcome home”. 🙂

Somerset Alabang‘s hashtag is #YourHomeintheSouth. Well, we definitely felt at home and taken care of. We’ll surely come back!
