Van Marley's Dutchkins

Yesterday I went all the way from Laguna to Caloocan for a one-hour entourage rehearsal. -_- Since it was late and I'm not familiar with the place, BF was kind enough to go with me.

On our way home we passed by Xavierville and decided to have dessert at Van Marley'sFrom what I read in Anton's blog, Van Marley's is a Dutch-inspired cafe hence their Dutch windmill logo. There's also a huge picture of Amsterdam, ceramic miniature Dutch houses, and the Dutch flag naturally. As for the name 'Marley', well he said the Dutch are fond of Jamaicans and calls them 'Marleys' (as in Bob Marley).

This is how the rest of the place looks like from where I'm sitting (by the window). It's just a small place. I think they're trying to project a hole-in-the-wall image.

They're famous for their Dutchkins which are fluffy baby Dutch pancakes with your choice of toppings:
  • Original: Powdered Sugar and Butter - Php125.00
  • Whipped Berry Mix & Cream Cheese - Php125.00
  • Whipped Lemon Cream Cheese  - Php125.00
  • Nutella and Praline Sauce - Php130.00
*add Php12.00 for a scoop of ice cream.

BF had their bestseller; Nutella and Praline while I chose the Berry Mix & Cream Cheese.
Each order comes in 14 bite-sized pillowy pancakes.

I tried his Nutella and while I agree that it's good, I tend to easily reach a satiation point with hazelnut so I just had a piece and concentrated on eating mine. :p
My berry mix and cream cheese. Too bad I was still full from dinner so I wasn't able to finish these babies, but I liked the combination of berries and cream cheese. It gives the Dutchkins an interesting taste; it's sweet and a bit sour at the same time.

If you're in the area, you may want to check this place for those late night sweet tooth cravings. ;)
