Weekend at Go Hotel

Just got back today from spending the weekend at Go Hotel

I booked a room (through their website) back in September and got the normal rate of Php888.00 + VAT = Php994.00 for an overnight stay. Just like Cebu Pacific's seat sale, I believe they regularly have 'prepaid room sales' which can go from Php588.00* to as low as Php388.00* per night for future dates (I think 2 to 3 months ahead of booking date).

I got to say that this place is really a bang for the buck. Although I saw pictures of it online, I had no expectations when I got there but was surprised that the hotel looks classy for a 'budget hotel'.

THE LOBBY

It's adjacent to Tokyo Cafe
You can now also reserve breakfast sets here when booking online (I believe this is optional).

As with most hotels, check-in time is at 2:00 PM and check-out time is at 11:00 AM.Since we arrived an hour earlier, we decided to have lunch first at Tokyo Cafe.

After lunch we went back to the lobby and I presented a printed email booking confirmation at the front desk. As soon as they confirmed my booking, I was given the keycard to our room. They also asked me to pick one from the small rolled papers in a fish bowl. Apparently at the time they also have freebies for lucky guests who could win spa gift certificates or an Adidas shirt, but alas, I didn't get any freebie.

INSIDE THE HOTEL

This is one of the common areas.
You can hang out here, bring your laptop and surf using their free WiFi.

Hallway leading to another common area

The hotel is very spacious. I doubt if you would ever bump into other guests going in and out of the hotel even if you run around with your luggage.

You can eat and watch TV here.
Zen-inspired cranny
Stairs connecting the 5th and 6th floors.

THE ROOM

Our room
I love this huge mirror in front of the bathroom
This is how the room looks like from the door.
I didn't expect the room to be this spacious! I think we got the room that's about 22sqm

Nice and clean bathroom with two fluffy towels and foot rug
Glass enclosed shower (with rain shower and handheld shower)
with single-use soap and shampoo w/ conditioner

The very comfortable bed and pillows.
I swear, I slept like a baby!

The 22-inch LCD TV
View from the other side of the room.

We only went out twice during our stay: one was when we had dinner at Robinson's Pioneer, and the other one the following day to have breakfast. Lots of families and other balikbayan's (this is just an assumption since they had luggages with them) were also checked in during that time. Food cannot be brought inside the room but is allowed in the common areas (see picture above).

What we liked about the hotel:
  • Convenient location: near MRT and besides Robinsons Pioneer
  • Since it just opened last May, the rooms and facilities are still new.
  • Spacious room with comfortable bed.
  • The room has an individually controlled air-condition unit.
  • Classy ambience for a budget hotel
  • Pay parking within the hotel (Php45.00 for the first 3 hours + Php10.00 for every succeeding hour or Php100.00 - overnight rate (single entry/exit))
  • 24-hour CCTV security
  • Keycard lock system and energy-saver switch
What we didn't like about the hotel:
  • We cannot access the WiFi inside the room even though the router was just outside. I called their attention on this but they asked me to try connecting from the common area (bakit pa naglagay ng WiFi kung ganun). After several attempts, I still wasn't able to connect even from the common area. I tried the following day, connected successfully but still wasn't able to browse. I don't know if we were the only ones who experienced this problem.
  • The first time we went out and locked the room, we had problems unlocking the door when we came back since the keycard seemed to be not working. We went back to the lobby to have them check it then the front desk officer asked me if the keycard came in contact with my celphone (sorry I didn't know). She then recoded the keycard. We went back to the room and still made several attempts before we finally opened the door.
  • No other restaurants in the building so we had to go to Robinsons Pioneer to have dinner. It's not that bad since it's just a stone throw away, but since the mall doesn't open until 9:00 or 10:00 am and MiniStop is still closed, no choice on where to have breakfast other than Tokyo Cafe. But since we didn't want to eat there again, we went to the other side of Boni and back just to have breakfast.
  • We found some cracks on the wall and ceiling of the room.
But overall, we had a relaxing stay at Go Hotel. It's really value-for-money. And at the rate their promos are going, we'll definitely come back. :)

  4. It looks so modern and "cold" heheh! but the rooms looks cozy enough :) and most importantly, clean :) I hope they maintain it the way it is right now. You're right for less than a thousand pesos, it looks like you're getting more than what you paid for.
