The Linden Suites: An Ideal Place to Bond with Family and Friends

I've always loved living in the south, but there are times when I just want to teleport because it's such a hassle for me to commute to Metro Manila. Sometimes I had to decline invites from friends because honestly, I dread the travel time and being stuck in traffic.

So when I got invited to a wedding in Mandaluyong, I knew I had to make arrangements.

I found out the couple and their respective families were going to be staying at The Linden Suites in Ortigas since it's just about half an hour (traffic included) away from the church and really close to the reception venue. Together with my two girl friends, we decided to stay here as well for 3 days and 2 nights.

I took a bus from Sta. Rosa, Laguna and got off at Megamall. From there, I just walked for about 15 minutes to San Miguel Avenue.

After settling payment at the front desk, I was given 2 keycards, our breakfast vouchers, and WiFi coupons. If you have other friends/guests arriving, they need to register at the front desk first so they could be given a keycard for the elevator and the room.

2-BEDROOM DELUXE UNIT

We were given a corner room at the 19th floor where, coincidentally, our friends and their families were also staying. I got to chat with them a bit before they got super busy with the wedding preps.

Living area of our 2-bedroom Deluxe Room.
Apparently, this is different from a 2-bedroom suite. Check rates here.
Even though this is a not a suite, it's still very spacious.

Having a kitchen makes a whole lotta difference. It really gives a homey look and feel.

This fully-equipped kitchen has an induction stove, microwave oven, fridge, coffee and tea-making facility, pots and pans, cutlery, glasses, and even dishwashing liquid. This is perfect when hosting a party or if you're a long-staying guest.

ROOMS

Single Room

I settled in the Single Room. Even though it's very modest in size, there's still enough space for me to move around. I had my own TV, phone extension, and cabinet with a robe and pair of slippers.

Master Bedroom

My friends shared the Master Bedroom. It has a queen-sized bed, and plenty of floor space. Similarly, it has its own TV and phone extension.

The iron and ironing board, and electronic safe are inside the Master Bedroom's closet.

The room's also connected to the bathroom.

Now what happens when you have 3 girls sharing 1 bathroom? Well, it's not really too much of a problem, but having 2 bathrooms would've been nice. :p Imagine our commotion the morning of the wedding day.

The bathroom would've been better if it had a bidet. Also, there were only 2 towels provided, and a set of toiletries. But these are just tiny issues. Nothing a call to housekeeping or a trip to nearby FamilyMart couldn't solve.

DINING

When I got hungry on the first night and was too lazy to go out, I ordered from room service. I have to say, the Grilled Chicken Sandwich was good, though I would've preferred less mustard or none at all. The price was pretty reasonable too.

Buffet breakfast is served at Mesclun at Php550.00 per head.

Mesclun was relatively quiet in the two mornings we ate there, so we were able to have a leisurely breakfast.

The spread may not be extensive, BUT they serve really good food. They also have a different menu every day. There's the usual Filipino breakfast favorites, and some unexpected offerings like gourmet tuyo, fried dilis, fried pintsik (wonton), crispy pork tapa, maja blanca, and taho (silken tofu with syrup and tapioca pearls)! My favorites were the baked macaroni, juicy smoked sausage (sounds like an advert, eh?), the rich chocolate cake that's not too sweet, and the cheesecake! Oh, they have a live egg and pancake station too.

Other facilities include a gym, sauna and spa, indoor pool, meeting rooms, and a business center.

Daily newspaper is delivered, and housekeeping checks daily if you want your room to be cleaned.

Given a chance, I'd love to bring my family and relatives here. I'm sure they'll enjoy the spacious and comfortable rooms. The kids would also have a grand time in the pool.

I'd also recommend this for balikbayans or long-term travelers visiting Manila because it's close to malls and bus terminals.
